reflection

Well I guess I should start off by saying that I've spent a lot of time listening to the new Sheryl Crow album "Wildflower." When I was listening to one song this image kind of hit me and I just had to find a way to portray what I saw in my head on paper. So this is what I came up with. I'm not going to go into great detail about what you should feel when you look at it because I think everyone should take what they will from it. But I will tell you what is drawn in the eyes because despite my best efforts it's not the easiest to see. In the eye on the right (when you're looking at it) is the silhouette of a soldier with a rifle. The eye on the left, a flag draped casket.

It's the first time I really let my mind wander and just draw something that wasn't inspired by a photograph. It's all from my head. I know it's not perfect but no piece of art really is. It's just something that meant a lot to me.

4b and 6b carbon pencils on canson classic cream paper 11X14
time is iffy... a couple of hours would be my guess
