Hard At Work by AnythingButDown Hard At Work by AnythingButDown
Well I figured I'd better submit something before people send out search parties because they think I've fallen off the face of the earth or something. I think this is downright the longest I've ever spent on a piece. I started it back in April and the time between April and now has been pretty crazy and so I didn't have much time to sit down and give art my undivided attention. But now that things have calmed down I've finally finished something, good thing as I have another piece that needs to be done in about 6 weeks so I had to get this one out of the way.

As for the piece, it's of my husband. It was taken while he was in Afghanistan. I really loved the picture and had never done something so technical, i.e: the gun. It took a lot of hard work and patience but I managed to pull it off. I learned a little bit about it, too. I would be like "honey, look, I finished that funny looking doo-hickey" and he'd explain to me what it *really* was. Gotta love him lol Boys and their toys.

:bulletpurple: Size- 9X12
:bulletpurple: Used - 4B-6B Carbon pencils (still feelin' the love after all this time  ) and a lot of love
:bulletpurple: Time - Forever.... About 4 months

It ended up being my husbands birthday present. It's currently off being framed as we speak and hopefully it'll be back by Sunday, which is his birthday, and also mine :) Hopefully he loves it as much as I loved creating it.

enjoy

This is my favorite. Good detail, especially the hand and the metals. I agree, gritty in a good way - exactly the point of drawing a soldier I think - to show what its like to be there.

I am speechless. I never knew drawing could be so detailed and look so real. This is amazing. Everything about this is just so 'alive'.
I am truly impressed.

This piece is really rugged and dirty looking, it's great. You certainly pulled off the gun, fantastic work :)
